How ProPectin Works

Pectins, when ingested, are not digested by stomach enzymes. They pass through the stomach and the small intestine into the colon. On the way to the colon the pectin stays in its macromolecular form (not broken down). Because of its large molecular size, pectin does not usually cross the blood barrier and stays in the intestinal tract where it does most of its cleansing work.

ProPectin is the only type of pectin whose molecular structure has been reduced to a point that it can get into the blood stream. Pectins are hydrophilic – they love water

ProPectin contains pure apple pectin.

Why Detox

In the past 30 years our health situation has drastically changed in North America and throughout the world. The incidences of age related degenerative diseases such as diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, arthritis, and compromised cardiovascular systems are increasing at alarming rates. Lifestyle related diseases encoded in our genetic predisposition, such as cancer, are also on the rise.

Fifty percent of all people will get cancer. Digestive issues in the United States alone affect over 70 million people.

Psychological and mental disorders are even more common with 30% of the population suffering from depression, bipolar disorder, or ADD/ADHD issues. It is common to find children in a cancer ward. Many young couples are not able to conceive naturally and turn to infertility drugs.

A study published three years ago found that the life expectancy of the new generation of children will be lower than that of their parents, for the first time.

What has changed? Where is the promised golden age of the technological society? Why are we not advancing in our health standards? The biggest answer lies in the quantity of toxins our bodies are creating and ingesting daily. These toxins are compounded over time because our bodies are not equipped to process them; robbing us of vitality.

What is Pectin

Pectin was first discovered in 1790 by a French chemist, Louis Nicola Vauquelin. He was able to isolate from the juice of fruits a water-soluble substance that makes liquids into a gel.

The name pectin comes from the Greek “pektos” which means curdling or congealing. Pectin’s beneficial properties were discovered very quickly even before its chemical composition was determined during the next century. Pectin is widely used in health, medicine, beauty and food processing industries.

Today we know that pectins are polysaccharides from plant cell walls. Pectin is a large chemical lattice of sugars and alcohols, which serves as a molecular sponge for reactivity. This removes reactive and damaging substances, absorbs toxins and heavy metals, bonds to them and flushes them out of the body. Pectins play the role of keeping water in and providing structural support for the cell walls of many plants. Many fruits and vegetable rinds contain various amounts of pectin.

Most pectin is found in the skin of the fruit. For example, the white part of an orange peel may contain up to 30% pectin. Most commercially produced pectin is made from the peelings leftover from making orange juice and apple juice.

The amount of pectin in the fruit depends partly on how ripe the fruit is. If the fruit is unripe, it contains what is called proto-pectin, which is converted into pectin as the fruit ripens. If the fruit is overripe, pectin becomes pectic acid, which does not form a gel with sugar solutions.

When put in water, pectin forms a colloidal solution, and becomes a gel on cooling. A colloid is a substance microscopically dispersed evenly throughout another substance.

Citrus, apple and beet pectin are the most used and studied. Other ex-cellent dietary sources of pectin are: bananas, cabbage, okra, grapes, carrots and broccoli. Pectin can also be extracted from sunflowers and seaweed. It is important to note that even though the white part of citrus fruit contains the most pectin we usually don’t eat it. The best source of pectin is apple.

ProPectin History

ProPectin was initially developed and marketed to combat the effects of radiation contamination–a need that arose dramatically when Japan was devastated by the Fukushima Disaster in March 2011. The response to ProPectin’s ability to flush deadly toxins from the body has been overwhelming, especially amongpeople in heavily populated metropolitan cities who face the most serious health risks from exposure to contaminants. Our goal is to help people reclaim their health and do everything possible to avoid the long-term health risks that can result from such exposure.

Continued research of apple pectin shows that ProPectin can offer significant health benefits to people in many other ways. Studies reveal that apple pectin can help maintain healthy cholesterol levels and lower the risk of cardiovascular disease, improve issues associated with inflammation, help lower blood glucose, and assists with healthy weight management.

ProPectin is pharmaceutical-grade apple pectin from pesticide free apples grown in Krakow, Poland and made in Bulgaria. It takes 250 kilos of apples to make one kilo of ProPectin. Owing to its high concentration of active compound D-Galacturonic acid, it has a unique potency.  It’s nanocized production through a patented 6–step refinement process make it more bioavailable and can easily be mixed in a glass of water, making it the only 100% soluble, high grade apple pectin.

ProPectin Benefits

Heavy Metal Detox

ProPectin has been studied for its interactions and chelation (chemical binding) with radioisotopes such as Cesium-137, allowing them to be flushed out of the body.

ProPectin for Detoxification

In essence, apple pectin is composed of a high percentage of D-galacturonic acid molecules. As D-galacturonic acid is negatively charged, it has the capability to bind with heavy metals that are positively charged. The bounded heavy metals are unable to be absorbed into the bloodstream, so in turn excreted via feces.

With regards to the heavy metals within our body rather than the ones present in the digestive tract, since ProPectin is classified as pharmaceutical grade apple pectin, its pectin molecule has been modified, and can be absorbed into our bloodstream.

With the high degree of D-galacturonic acid present in ProPectin, it can then binds with heavy metals in cells and bloodstream and remove from the body through metabolism.

ProPectin does not only block heavy metals absorption within our gastrointestinal tract, it is also being absorbed into the bloodstream and removes heavy metals that are circulating in our blood and/or deposited in various organs such as the brain, bones, liver, kidneys, spleen, etc.

Prebiotic - Gut Purification

Improve intestinal health (1,2)

Apple pectin (water-soluble fiber) is a prebiotic that can activate intestinal probiotic proliferation, help manufacture vitamins and decompose food, inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria, and enhance immunity.

Soluble fiber is known for its “delayed gastric emptying” effect due to gel formation, which delays the breakdown and absorption of carbohydrates and fats in food and increases satiety. Therefore, reduced food intake due to increased satiety may help to control weight.

When apple pectin is converted into butyrate by bacteria in the large intestine, it can reduce inflammatory chemokines in the body, effectively prevent and improve the problems caused by inflammation (such as eczema, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus erythematosus, gout).

Improve constipation (3)

Apple pectin absorbs water in the colon, increases the volume and weight of stool, and makes it swell. Larger stool will stimulate bowel movements, making stool easier to discharge.

Improve sensitive intestines (4)

Sensitive intestines are prone to diarrhea because water is not absorbed by the colon, causing abdominal pain and loose stools.

Taking apple pectin (water-soluble fiber) can increase the absorption of water by the colon and effectively solve the problem of diarrhea

Heart Health

ProPectin for Cholesterol Lowering

As ProPectin is pure apple pectin, which is a type of soluble fiber, it will pass through the stomach and the small intestines and reaches the colon. In the colon, soluble fiber has the capability to bind with bile acids and excrete via the human feces.

As the pool of bile acids has been lowered due to the increased excretion, the liver will have to synthesize more to compensate with the increased lost.

As the major ingredient required in synthesizing bile is cholesterol, so in turn serum low density lipoproteins (LDL) will be reuptake by the liver and breakdown into bile acids.

Through these complex mechanisms, the serum LDL will be indirectly lowered due to the increased production of bile by the liver.

Apple pectin lowers cholesterol levels by significantly raising the levels of HDL, or good cholesterol. (Nutrition and Food Research Journal, 2010)

Glucose Concern

Apple Pectin helps with blood sugar level control.

ProPectin for Glucose Regulation

Soluble fiber is well-known with its “delay gastric emptying” effect. When foods are ingested along with soluble fiber, such as apple pectin, they will reach the human stomach.

As gastric juice and enzymes within the stomach are incapable of digesting fiber, this in turn increases the time of the foods staying in the stomach. This creates a sense of “satiety” so the individual will consume less during the meal.

When the foods mix with the fiber in the stomach, chyme is formed. This partially digested chyme slowly moves into the small intestines, where macronutrients such as carbohydrates are being further broken down into disaccharides and monosaccharides.

However, as soluble fiber is present as well, this makes the pancreatic amylase and luminal disaccharidases harder to digest the carbohydrates, thus delaying digestion and absorption.

As a result, the post-prandial glucose response is reduced and in turn minimizing blood glucose rise upon a meal that is high in simple sugar and/or complex carbohydrates.

Natural Butyrate

According to Technische Universität Kaiserslautern report, Apple pectin is converted to butyrate by bacteria in the large intestine:

Eliminate inflammation, balance immunity (1)

❖ Inhibiting the secretion of histone deacetylase (HDAC) from stellate cells in the brain
❖ Acts as histone deacetylase inhibitor (HDACi)
❖ Reduce inflammatory chemokines
❖ Strengthen human immunity system
❖ Effectively prevent and improve eczema, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus erythematosus, gout uric acid

Enhancing Brain Nutrition Factors (2)

❖ Promote the release of Brain-derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF) from nerve cells after butyrate entering the brain
❖ Maintain brain cell health and growth
❖ Effectively improve memory, learning and concentration

Improving muscle coordination (3)

❖ Promote the release of Glial cell-derived Neurotrophic Factor (GDNF) from nerve cells.
❖ Improve muscle coordination
❖ Effectively prevent and improve cerebellar atrophy, Parkinson’s disease, and Alzheimer’s disease

Weight Management

Soluble fiber is known for its “delayed gastric emptying” effect due to gel formation, which delays the breakdown and absorption of carbohydrates and fats in food and increases satiety. Therefore, reduced food intake due to increased satiety may help to control weight.

Enhanced digestive capabilities due to better colon function, promotion of beneficial microbiota and slower gastric emptying rates were recorded with daily consumption of apple pectin, lowering the risk of obesity, weight gain, and assisting weight reduction programs in healthy individuals.
